BUPECHIU has designed a program to empower young people to take responsibility for their own hopes, aspirations, and lives. It is It is accompanied by a training manual which is provided free to Ugandan schools and some other people (such as social workers, police, etc).

We start by asking the question; “if you rely on someone else to provide for you, what happens when that person withdraws their support or is no longer there?” Reliance on someone else is not sustainable, so our message is clear;

Don’t rely on other people; learn to stand on your own two feet

Our program focuses on showing children how to build the resilience needed to face and overcome the challenges that they will meet in life. It also develops self-leadership and problem-solving skills. This is largely done through practical activities, but we also include some key educational and scientific theories that underpin our programme.

Up to this moment in time, we have taught the program to 40 Ugandan adults via a number of Zoom workshops. It is these people who, under the leadership of Hagaba Moses, have formed BUPECHIU. Our hope is that these people will spread the program to others in Uganda. We have also completed introductory sessions to teachers and children in 22 schools. We have many teachers (and some other people) as well as children who are eagerly waiting to be fully trained in the BUPECHIU program.

The most efficient way of developing these skills in children is obviously through schools and this is our biggest problem: many of the children who would most benefit from our program are unable to go to school, either because of the tuition fees or the contributions needed to pay for scholastic materials or both. These children include orphans, disabled children, children in the very depths of poverty and girls who are having difficulties with their periods.

So, much of our efforts are concentrated on getting these children into schools.

Since June 2024, BUPECHIU has secured school place for more than 100 children who would not otherwise be in education.

This is a start, but 1000’s more need our help.

With the support of the following charities, we are providing basic school equipment, computers, sanitary products or the materials for girls to make their own, along with free training to schools in exchange for taking some children off the street and giving them genuinely free school places.

Important: the BUPECHIU program is suitable for all people of any age all over the world.

Training andmaterials are free for Ugandan schools. Other African countries and areas needing educational support might have to pay post and packaging if we cannot find an alternative transport route. Other people outside of Africa can purchase a copy of the training manual for £10 plus P+P per copy.

We make no apology for charging because all the income from the sale of the manual will be used to help get more children into schools.

100% of donations to BUPECHIU is spent on the education of vulnerable children. Volunteers pay all their own expenses and admin costs.

The success of BUPECHIU is such that, we have been asked to extend the program to South Sudan and Zambia in 2025.

URGENT: We need funds to meet the cost of transporting the computers from the UK to Uganda.

Donations can be made to: “The Rotary club of Columb Charity account” but please include a reference to the BUPECHIU Project. Alternatively, we have a Gofundme page:
